Jerome Lettvin was an American scientist and Professor Emeritus of Electrical and Bioengineering and Communications Physiology at MIT. Lettvin was known as the lead author on the paper "What the Frog's Eye Tells the Frog's Brain", a revolutionary paper on "feature detectors" in the retina. This paper later became one of the most cited academic papers in the Scientific Citation Index. He was also known for the studies he conducted in the fields of neurology and physiology. Jerome Lettvin died in 2011 in Hingham, Massachusetts.
