Bill Pierce, a graduate of Princeton University, is a freelance photographer and journalist based in New York City. Pierce is a self-taught photographer, and during his over 20 years as a photojournalist, he has covered worldwide events such as the civil wars in Beirut and Lebanon, the Civil Rights Movement in the US, and the war in Northern Ireland.
Galen Rowel was an outdoor photographer, adventure photojournalist, and climber from Oakland, California. Rowel began working full-time as a photographer in 1972 and had photographic assignments for Life, National Geographic, and Outdoor Photographer, as well as other publications. In 1984, Rowel won the Ansel Adams Award for Conservation Photography. Rowel died in Bishop, California in 2002 at the age of 61.
