Edmund Bacon was an American architect, urban planner, author, and educator. Bacon earned a degree in architecture from Cornell University and after graduation he began working as an architect in Shanghai, China. Bacon was the Executive Director of the Philadelphia City Planning Commission from 1949 to 1970 and is sometimes referred to as "The Father of Modern Philadelphia". Bacon died in 2005 at the age of 95.
