Julie Schenkelberg was born in Cleveland, Ohio and lives in Detroit. She creates large-scale
installations using discarded materials. Her work draws on her personal story and imagery of the
ruins of her hometown area. She received a MFA at the School of Visual Arts, NY, NY. She is
represented by Asya Geisberg Gallery in New York. Her installations have been displayed in solo
exhibitions at The Mattress Factory Museum of Contemporary Art in Pittsburgh, and Untitled Art
Fair in Miami. She has received numerous grants from institutions including the Harpo Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts.
