Terry Boling is a practitioner, builder, and educator.
His award-winning practice of design and fabrication work has been published in I.D. Magazine, Architecture Magazine, Dwell magazine, Architectural Record, Reforma, and in an internationally published monograph titled “Young Americans- New Architecture in the USA”. Artichoke, an addition and renovation to a historic building in Cincinnati, recently won an AIA Cincinnati Design Award, a Cincinnati Preservation Association Award of Excellence, and an AIA Ohio Design Award.
As in his own practice, his pedagogic focus is centered on questions of material research, technique, and fabrication. Professor Boling’s pedagogy and resulting work with students is featured in a chapter of the new book “DesignBuild Education”, edited by Chad Kraus. The award-winning Alchemy project was recently installed in Venice, Italy, concurrent with the 2018 Venice Biennale. Professor Boling has been honored nationally by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture with a Design Build Award in 2017, a Collaborative Practice Award in 2016, a Design Build Award in 2014, and a Faculty Design Award in 2010.
In 2019, Professor Boling was named the Bruce Goff Creative Chair in Architecture at the University of Oklahoma, and was honored with a Faculty Excellence award by the University of Cincinnati.
